An educational and information showcase about keeping kids safe around the water, this annual event is organized under the auspices of SWIMS Foundation and founded by Shirley Harold whose two year old great-grandson J’Mari drowned in a swimming pool in March 2008. The goal of the event is to promote water safety for parents and caregivers of young people learning to swim.
Held at the Joseph C. Carter Park on Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, the event brings together organizations like the American Red Cross and Fort Lauderdale Fire Department to highlight the importance of initiatives to prevent drowning and of quick response actions and life saving techniques such as CPR.
